Happy St. Paddy’s day to you from the Skyway Title Team!
It’s the 17th of March, which means we can celebrate, not only in Ireland but all across the world for St. Patrick himself! Most of us just wear green on that day and pinch each other, but St. Patrick's Day means a lot more than that...
So, what is the significance of St. Patrick's Day, and what is it all about? Well, it all starts with the man himself.
St. Patrick is known as the Patron Saint of Ireland. He worked tirelessly to help establish churches and monasteries all around Ireland and converted many pagan Irish people to Christianity during the fourth century, which eventually earned him his Sainthood. It is for these reasons we still celebrate St. Paddy's today!
Here are some fun facts about St. Patrick's Day:
St. Patrick was not Irish, he was from Wales.
St. Patrick arrived in Ireland as a slave.
St. Patrick did not wear green!
The shamrock symbol is a teaching tool to explain the Holy Trinity.
Corned beef and cabbage were an American innovation.
Until the 1970s, St. Patrick’s Day was a minor celebration of the patron saint of Ireland. Now, it’s more of a party and about leprechauns.
